A second-year pro, Matczak returns to Kalamazoo, where he was the team’s Meijer Most Improved Player Award. Proving to be an offensive-defenseman, Matczak finished his rookie campaign notching 35 points (11 goals, 24 assists) in 60 games.
Matczak’s first opportunity in the pro ranks was in 2010-11 with the AHL’s Adirondack Phantoms, where he played in four games after completing his collegiate career at Yale University.
With the Bulldogs, Matczak recorded 39 points (8 goals, 31 assists) in 114 games and ranked in the top three amongst his team’s defensemen in three of his four years at Yale.
