Kalamazoo, MI- The Kalamazoo Wings, proud member of the ECHL, three-time defending North Division Champions and National Hockey League affiliate to the Vancouver Canucks, and American Hockey League’s Chicago Wolves announce the team will start a two-game home stand this weekend.
After competing on the road tomorrow, Wednesday, December 12th against the Fort Wayne Komets, the K-Wings will return to Wings Stadium this Friday, December 14th to host the Evansville IceMen during Star Wars Night and a FANomenal Friday, featuring $2 beers (including Shock Top and Molson), $1 Pepsi and in honor of Star Wars Night, $1 Jabba the Hut Dogs.
As part of Friday’s out-of-this world entertainment, there will be a Star Wars costume contest and members of the 501st Garrison will be on hand Friday night interacting with the fans.
It will be a rematch of last year’s Eastern Conference Finals, as the K-Wings host the reigning Kelly Cup Champions, Florida Everblades this Saturday, December 15th at 7:30 p.m. during Holiday Fest 2012, presented by WKFR.
In a night full of holiday spirit, WKFR will have their “Stuff the Bus” in the Wings Stadium parking lot from 8 a.m.-8 p.m. Anyone that brings a new, unwrapped toy for “Stuff the Bus” will receive a coupon for a buy one ticket; get one ticket free for the K-Wings game against the Everblades.
As part of the K-Wings holiday tradition, fans are encourage to wear their ugliest holiday sweaters for a contest and most importantly everyone coming to the game on Saturday is encouraged to bring a new stuffed animal to participate in the 13th Annual Teddy Bear Toss Game.
To cap off the holiday extravaganza, the K-Wings will also be wearing special holiday themed jerseys that will be auctioned off after the game.
When the K-Wings score their first goal, fans are encouraged to throw their stuffed animals onto the ice. The stuffed animals collected will be go to Toys for Tots, the Salvation Army and to the K-Wings’ annual visit to The Children’s Hospital at Bronson, which will occur this Monday, December 17th at 2 p.m.
This year, Slappy will be joined on the visit to the hospital by head coach Nick Bootland, along with players, Aaron Clarke, Eric Kattelus and Elgin Reid.
Single-game tickets for the 2012-2013 season are on sale at the Wings Stadium Ticket Office. Ticket Office hours are Monday-Friday 10 a.m.-5:30 p.m. and 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on Saturday’s. To charge tickets by phone, please call Ticketmaster at 800-745-3000.
Tickets for all K-Wings home games are $13 and $17.50 for adults and only $7 for kids ages 14 and under. The price for all K-Wings premium night games (all colored ice games and New Year’s Eve game) are just $1 more.
Fans can save money by purchasing K-Wings single-game tickets in advance because tickets purchased on the day of a game increase by $2 (adults only).
