Kalamazoo, MI- The Kalamazoo Wings, proud member of the ECHL, three-time defending North Division Champions and National Hockey League affiliate to the Vancouver Canucks, and American Hockey League’s Chicago Wolves announce that forward Alexandre Mallet has been reassigned from the Canucks to the K-Wings, while goaltender Joe Cananta has been reassigned to the Wolves.
In his most recent call up the Wolves, Mallet posted one assist in four games. Mallet’s return will bolster the K-Wings lineup, as the forward has registered 22 points (9 goals, 13 assists) in 31 games this season.
This will be Cannata’s second call up to the Wolves this season. By heading to Chicago, Cannata becomes the 16th member of the K-Wings this season to be either reassigned or loaned to an AHL club.
In Cannata absence, the K-Wings have signed goaltender Ryan Daniels. Daniels is a former fifth-round draft pick (151st overall) of the Ottawa Senators in the 2006 National Hockey League (NHL) Entry Draft. Daniels recently finished his collegiate career at Wilfrid Laurier University, where he had a 2.96 goals-against average (GAA) and 0.921 save percentage in 95 games. A well decorated goaltender for the Golden Hawk, Daniels was the 2012-13 OUA Men’s Hockey West Division MVP, as well as a First Team All-Star and Top Goaltender. The netminder received the same honors during the 2010-11 campaign.
Prior to playing in college, Daniels played just over four seasons in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) with the Saginaw Spirit and the Peterborough Petes. In 166 games played, he finished with an 85-58-14 record, 3.37 GAA and 0.902 save percentage.
