Cincinnati, OH- Growing their winning streak to four games and their unbeaten streak in regulation to six games (5-0-0-1) the Kalamazoo Wings defeated the Cincinnati Cyclones 3-1 Tuesday night at the US Bank Arena.
Slipping past the K-Wings defense, Paul Crowder (5th) received a pass from David MacDonald to score on a breakaway with 3:14 remaining in the opening period to give the Cyclones a 1-0 advantage.
Kalamazoo evened the game at 1-1 with a goal from Elgin Reid (1st). Camped in front of the net, Reid deflected a David Pacan wrist shot. Pacan, who played last season with the Cyclones, was making his first visit to the US Bank Arena since joining the K-Wings.
Pacan (4th) continued to torment his former team in the third period scoring unassisted three minutes into the stanza to give the K-Wings the lead.
Adding some insurance in the final minute of the game, Matt Caria (3rd) extended his point streak to four games by scoring an empty-netter.
Joel Martin (5-2-0-2) kept the Cyclones at bay by stopping 35 shots, including 11 in the final period.
The K-Wings will return home on Friday, December 13th versus the Cyclones on Ugly Holiday Sweater Contest and Teddy Bear Toss Night. The fan that wears the ugliest Holiday sweater will receive $200. The game will also feature $2 beers, $2 hot dogs and $1 Pepsi products.
