Toledo, Ohio- Ending the preseason on a high-note, the Kalamazoo Wings jumped out to an early led on Saturday night and never looked back, as the K-Wings defeated the Toledo Walleye 3-2 at the Huntington Center.  

Just like they did the night before, Kalamazoo came out with plenty of energy and found the back of the night.  Justin Taylor (1^st) found room in front of the net and put the K-Wings ahead early, deflecting an Aaron Schmit shot.

Extending the lead later in the period while on the power-play, Derek Graham (1^st) scored on a wrist shot from between the circles. The goal was Graham’s second point of the night and his team-leading fourth of the preseason.

Keeping the offense flowing midway in the second period, tipping a pass in his own zone, Nick Walsh (1^st) raced up ice and slipped the puck past Petr Mrazek for the unassisted tally.

Trying to mount a comeback, Cody Lampl (2^nd) knocked in a power-play rebound for the Walleye’s first goal of the evening late in the second period.

Cutting the K-Wings lead to a single-goal, Nikita Poliakov (2^nd) blasted a slap shot over the shoulder of Joel Martin two minutes into the third period.

Despite outshooting the K-Wings 8-2 in the final period, the Walleye could find away to score the equalizer past Martin, who finished the contest with 28 saves.

The K-Wings will begin the regular season this Friday, October 12^th with an 8 p.m. face-off versus the Fort Wayne Komets from the Allen County Coliseum.

Kalamazoo will return home to Wings Stadium on Friday, October 19^th with a 7:30 p.m. face-off to battle Fort Wayne featuring a pregame home opener tailgate party.

Tickets for all K-Wings home games are $13 and $17.50 for adults and only $7 for kids ages 14 and under. The price for all K-Wings premium night games (all colored ice games and New Year’s Eve game) are just $1 more.

Fans can save money by purchasing K-Wings single-game tickets in advance because tickets purchased on the day of a game increase by $2 (adults only).
