Kalamazoo, MI- The Kalamazoo Wings, proud member of the ECHL, three-time defending North Division Champions and National Hockey League affiliate to the Vancouver Canucks, and American Hockey League’s Chicago Wolves announce the completion of a trade with the Trenton Titans.

The K-Wings will receive defenseman Mitch Versteeg from the Titans and in return Trenton will receive forward Justin Taylor.

A four-year pro, Versteeg returns to where he began his professional career. The native of Lethbridge, Alberta played a majority of his first two seasons with the K-Wings, including the 2010-11 campaign, where he was a member of the K-Wings Eastern Conference Championship team.

This season with the Titans, Versteeg has posted five points (1 goal, 4 assists) and has a plus/minus rating of even in 11 games.

Before turning pro, Versteeg played three seasons in the WHL with the Lethbridge Hurricanes. Versteeg made his presence while with the Hurricanes racking up 297 minutes in penalties in 148 games. Mitch also helped Lethbridge to back-to-back playoff appearances.

Versteeg is the younger brother of Kris Versteeg, who last season played for the NHL’s Florida Panthers and was a member of Chicago Blackhawks 2009-10 Stanley Cup.

The Titans will receive Taylor, a three-year pro, who has registered three points (all assists) and is minus-three in 11 games this season for the K-Wings. Taylor has played all, but 14 games of his career in the K-Wings jersey. The native of Mindemoya, Ontario played those 14 contests in his rookie season  in the AHL with the Bridgeport Sound Tigers.
