Kalamazoo, MI- The Kalamazoo Wings, proud member of the ECHL, two-time defending North Division Champions, reigning Eastern Conference Champions and National Hockey League affiliate to the Vancouver Canucks and New Jersey Devils and American Hockey League’s Albany Devils, announce several player transactions.
Earlier this afternoon, the New Jersey Devils have reassigned defensemen Joe Sova and Harry Young to the K-Wings.
Sova is in his first full professional season after registering a goal and three assists in 11 games at the end of the 2010-11 season for the AHL’s Albany Devils. A native of Berwyn, Illinois, Sova spent three seasons playing collegiate hockey at the University of Alaska-Fairbanks, totaling 58 points (13 goals, 45 assists).
Young is in his second season with the Devils organization after playing in 52 games for Albany and three games for the Trenton Devils during his rookie campaign. At the AHL level, he produced a goal and four assists and accumulated 142 penalty minutes in 2010-11. Young was drafted by the Devils in the 7th round (202nd overall selection) during the 2008 NHL Draft.
Also returning to the blue line is Joe Charlebois. The third-year pro, who is returning for his first full season with the K-Wings started the season with the AHL’s Manchester Monarchs.
In separate transactions, the K-Wings have release defensemen Derek Foam, Adam Ross and forward Phillip Ginand.
Kalamazoo will open the regular season at Wings Stadium versus the Cincinnati Cyclones with a 7:30 p.m. face-off on Saturday, October 15th.
The K-Wings will host a FREE (no game ticket needed) indoor pregame and postgame tailgate party with live music from Drop 35. Prior to face-off, the K-Wings will also raise their 2010-11 North Division and Eastern Conference Championship banners.
Single-game tickets for the upcoming 2011-2012 season are on sale at the Wings Stadium Ticket Office. Ticket Office hours are Monday-Friday 10 a.m.-6 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m.-2 p.m. For more information, please call Wings Stadium Ticket Office during regular business hours at (269) 345-5101.
Tickets for all K-Wings home games are $12.90 and $16.90 for adults, $11.90 for seniors (62 years and older) and military (with proper ID) and only $6.90 for kids ages 12 and under. The price for all K-Wings premium night games (all colored ice games and New Year’s Eve game) are just $1 more. Fans can save money by purchasing K-Wings single game tickets in advance because tickets purchased on the day of a game increase by $1.
