K-Wings News Release

Kalamazoo Wings Vs Fort Wayne Komets
December 21, 2012 - Mike Modugno
Director of Public Relations and Broadcaster

Game Preview
Getting set for their final home game before Christmas, the Kalamazoo Wings will tangle with their archrivals the Fort Wayne Komets. Tonight is the ninth of 16 meetings this season between the teams. Despite dropping their last two games against Fort Wayne, Kalamazoo is 4-3-1-0 this season versus the Komets.

Currently in fourth place in the North Division, Kalamazoo enters the night three points behind Fort Wayne for third. The K-Wings will have plenty of opportunity to make up ground on the standings. Starting last Sunday, Kalamazoo began a stretch of nine straight games against division foes.

After a loss to the Cincinnati Cyclones on Wednesday, Fort Wayne is now four points behind the Cyclones for second place in the division. Besides trying to catch ground in the North Division, the Komets will also try to snap a three-game road (0-2-1-0) winless streak.

Roster Moves
Earlier today the K-Wings activated defenseman Kyle Page from the reserve. In a separate transaction, Kalamazoo has place forward Harry Young on the reserve.

Lighting the Lamp
Ranked 15th in the ECHL with an average of 2.92 goals a game, the K-Wings offense has been silenced earning one goal in each of their last two games. On the season, Kalamazoo has been held under two goals on six occasions.

Hungry Like a Wolf
On Monday, forward Stefan Schneider was reassigned by the Vancouver Canucks to the AHL’s Chicago Wolves. Schneider, who has played in eight games this season with Kalamazoo, has earned two points (1 goal, 1 assist), including a goal in his last game with the K-Wings last Sunday against the Komets.

Nearing Milestones
Defenseman Sam Ftorek and forward Brett Lysak are each closing in on a personal milestone. Ftorek needs two more points to reach 600 for his career, while Lysak is two points shy of 400.
