K-Wings News Release

Kalamazoo Wings @ Fort Wayne Komets
December 16, 2012 - Mike Modugno
Director of Public Relations and Broadcaster

Game Preview
Finishing the week the same way they started it, the Kalamazoo Wings will travel to the Allen County Memorial Coliseum to face-off against the Fort Wayne Komets. On Wednesday, Fort Wayne defeated Kalamazoo 7-3. On the season, the K-Wings are 4-3-0-0 against the Komets.

Coming off a heartbreaking 2-1 setback last night at Wings Stadium to the Florida Everblades, the K-Wings will head on the road for the first half of a home-and-home series against the Komets. Kalamazoo enters the day two points behind Fort Wayne for third place in the North Division.

After two straight losses (0-1-1-0) on the road, Fort Wayne returns home for two straight divisional contests. Despite the win against the K-Wings on Wednesday, the Komets have dropped three of their last five games at coliseum and are 5-5-0-0 on home ice this season.

Iron Man
Kalamazoo’s Joel Martin has been logging plenty of minutes. Martin, who ranks second in the league with 1,192 minutes, has played in nine straight games for Kalamazoo and 13 out of the K-Wings last 14 contests.

Nearing Milestones
Defenseman Sam Ftorek and forward Brett Lysak are each closing in on a personal milestone. Ftorek needs two more points to reach 600 for his career, while Lysak is two points shy of 400.

Sunday Best
Despite owning a record of 0-2-0-0 on Sunday’s this season, the K-Wings have enjoyed playing on a first day of the week. Since joining the ECHL during the 2009-10 campaign, Kalamazoo has gone 25-10-2-1 on games played on Sunday.

Snapping a Streak
For the second time this week, Kalamazoo will head to the Allen County Memorial Coliseum looking to snap a streak. The K-Wings hit the ice trying to end a season-high five-game (0-3-1-1) road winless streak.
