Game Preview A new rivalry will be born this evening, as the Kalamazoo Wings will take on the Evansville Icemen during the Icemen’s Pink in the Rink game. It will be a colorful weekend for the team’s; besides playing on pink ice, both teams will meet again tomorrow night at Wings Stadium during the Annual Orange Ice Game.
Winners of two straight, the K-Wings have started the season with a record of 3-1-0-0 and as a result are in first place in the North Division. Kalamazoo’s key to success has been goaltending, as the duo of Joel Martin and Joe Cannata have only allowed their opponents a goals-against average of 1.75 goals-a-game.
In search of their first ECHL victory, the Icemen will conclude a brief two-game home stand. Evansville started the stand with a 3-0 loss on Wednesday to the Gwinnett Gladiators. Opening the season with a record of 0-3-0-1, the Icemen’s lone point came on the road, as they are have gone 0-3-0-0 at home.

Pretty in Pink Kalamazoo is no stranger on playing on Pink Ice. All-time, the K-Wings are 10-4-0-0 (9-4-0-0 at home, 1-0-0-0 on the road) in playing in pink colored ice during the regular season.
Hungry Like a Wolf On Sunday, forward Michael Davies was reassigned to the AHL’s Chicago Wolves. Davies, who played in two games for Kalamazoo, registered one goal on seven shots with the team.
Strong Debut Goaltender Joe Cannata made a strong first impression in his K-Wings debut last Saturday. Cannata turned aside a team-high 40 shots in a 4-2 victory versus Toledo.
King of the Road When it comes to playing on the road, no one in the ECHL is better than Kalamazoo. Of teams that have played at least one full season in the league, the K-Wings have the highest road winning percent at 59.5% (57-36-17).
